Laminated glass is a combination of two or more sheets of glass separated by a layer / layers of plastic or liquid resin. In case of breakage, the plastic (typically of polyvinyl butyral, PVB), or resin layer holds the shattered glass together. The PVB interlayer also gives the glass a much higher sound insulation rating, due to the damping effect, and also blocks 99% of incoming UV radiation.
Vacuum bagging is used in the vacuum bonding process in glass laminating, offering the required even pressure over the surface of the glass.
VAC Innovation Ltd offer a range of materials used in vacuum bagging - bagging film, adhesive tape, peel ply, breather, sealant tapes, connectors, breach units, hoses and gauges. |
